Capture interest with captions!

I met a kind educator this weekend who shared a great tip with me. She suggested parents use closed captions when their little one is watching a favorite show or movie. This is also a great tip for readers of any age, including struggling readers and English Language Learners.

Imagination Library

If you haven't heard about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library...you will. It is a wonderful program expanding all over the world that gives children (especially those in need) access to high-quality books. Get this....children enrolled from birth to age 5 get a NEW book mailed to them EVERY month! I recently met a Mom at a local playground who started talking about the Imagination Library and how her three year old son just loves when he gets a new book in the mail. How fun! I have ideas about how I'd like to spread the word about this program, but more about that later...
